SURVIVORS
Our CFIST campaign works alongside survivors, their family members and community coalitions demanding justice for survivors.
Due to the pervasive injustice of police brutality, torture, kidnapping, coercion and wrongful conviction, the list of survivors is always growing and we are always updating and expanding our database, factsheets and collective struggle to depict every survivor story. If you or your loved one would like to update, add, or edit a survivor story, or get involved further in the campaign, please email us at caarprfilm@gmail.com.

The 41 individual cases above have all been reviewed by the Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission (TIRC).
Of these stories:
28 survivors were age 25 and under at the time of their arrest and torture. 8 were younger than 18.
All 40 survivors are African American or Latinx.
11 survivors are currently incarcerated
8 survivors have been exonerated
1 survivor contracted COVID-19 in January 2021 and died in state custody
All of them are someone’s child. All of them were community members. None deserved to be tortured.
We demand that the Governor pardon all torture survivors immediately, and that the State’s Attorney vacate their convictions.
The Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression will continue to work on these cases, attend court dates and Torture Commission hearings and stay involved with family members. We will continue to put out more fact sheets as they become available.
