Chicago has growing coalition to fight for the COMMUNITY PLAN to keep our communities safe. We invite you to learn about the five demands of the people’s plan for community safety, and join us in the fight in willing these plans to action.

We do not need an increase to the police budget or to fund vacant police positions. We need real public safety by and for the people.

• Stop inflating the Chicago Police Budget and fund our communities! Support the budget amendment demanding that vacant beat officer positions be cut. These positions are always included in the budget, yet never filled.

• The budget amendment would maintain the civilian positions in CPD, and cut the vacant officer patrols which always receive funding and are never filled.

• Fund the Peacebook and Treatment not Trauma! Not vacant officer positions! These vacant officer positions do nothing to provide public safety, and take money away from the programs our communities demand!

• Vacant civilian positions in CPD are required by the federal consent decree in order to promote transparency within the department, yet they remain unfilled with a ballooning police budget. Instead of cutting these required civilian positions, the budget amendment would cut vacant officer positions that remain empty year after year.
