I remember an older mentor of mine once saying that racism carries the stench of the slave market and yet here we are in the 21 st Century living in the shadow of this congenital blood stain of this nation; here we are once again being revisited by the nightmares of the racist lynchings of our past tormented history. The video of the brutal murder of Sonya Massey is echoes of genocide perpetrated against Black people in this so-called land of the free. When a white Deputy Sheriff (Sean Grayson) says to a defenseless Black woman “I will shoot you in your f---king face” and then proceeds to carry out this execution then we are brutally reminded that racist lynchings still haunt us as a nation because the powers that be continue to resist eradication of institutionalized racism.
Just like Congress refused to pass an anti-lynching bill for a hundred years they are refusing to pass the George Floyd bill now. This is our present reality while we are forced to endure these violations of our humanity by a system that routinely denies us justice, by a system that’s deprived us of the fruits of labor and thrives off of stolen wealth.
We must protest, we must take to the streets and demand justice, freedom and equality until we get it. And we must not forget that what they do to us they do to Palestinians and oppressed people around the world.
No Justice, No Peace! No Racist Police!
End Genocide at Home and Abroad!
