The Chicago Alliance is a branch of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression

NAARPR is a mass defense organization that defends the rights of Black people and all oppressed peoples to unite, organize and fight for freedom, justice and equality. We were founded in 1973 and our parent organization was National United Committees to Free Angela Davis and All Political Prisoners. Today we see the police occupation of communities and mass incarceration as the two greatest obstacles to our fight for democracy and liberation.

You’re Invited!

September 12th, save the date! At the The California Clipper, the Chicago Alliance invites you to join us for a night of art, music and political consciousness to help highlight and sustain our work! Support us in raising funds and getting the word out for the next big stage of our fight: to pass the referendum for community power over policing, and to free all survivors of police torture and wrongful conviction!

We’ll have artists from within our organization and movement performing and hear from leaders in our ongoing campaigns. The Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (CAARPR) remains vigilant and constantly ready to defend the movement for the liberation of all oppressed and working people as it has been since its founding in 1973. As a working class org, we sustain our work through the support of the people and every dollar from freedom fighters like yourselves goes a long way to assist with necessary costs of printing materials, phone banking, demonstration costs, and keeping the lights on in our office. Join us for a night of celebration in how far we have come, and to gear up for the fight ahead!

Suggested donation of $20 at the door. Please wear a mask to mitigate the spread of COVID 19! No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

All power to the people!

Honoring Shasta Jones, Freedom Fighter and Revolutionary

Shasta’s loved ones gathered for a Movement Memorial at Picken Memorial Temple to honor Shasta’s life and legacy.

We regrettably and very sadly dip our banners of struggle for our dear comrade and beloved friend Shasta Jones who passed away early Thursday morning. She was 43 years old and is survived by 5 children and 7 siblings. We send our heartfelt condolences to Shasta's family and friends.

Shasta was a freedom fighter and a community jewel who will live forever in our hearts and deeds. Her contributions to the struggle for community control of the police and the Black liberation movement as a whole were immeasurable. She was known by every person who walked in and out of our office on 63rd & Cottage Grove, and beloved by the community. Her efforts live on in not only the history she made, but in all those she touched, prepared and trained to carry on the struggle.

Shasta lived in Buffalo, New York; New Orleans, Louisiana; Bloomington, and of course Chicago, Illinois. She touched an untold number of lives with her joy and revolutionary optimism. As a survivor of the prison system, Shasta had an unshakable resolve to fight for justice and to love those impacted by injustice. She extended her revolutionary love around the world with words and actions of solidarity. Her legendary trip to Cuba in 2019 has resonated throughout Chicago both in the stories she told and the lessons she taught as an organizer. She is fondly remembered by people in the Palestinian, Filipino, Chicano, immigrant rights, and workers’ movements among many others.

As soon as we are informed by the family of arrangements we will let you know immediately. All Power to the People! Long Live Shasta in the hearts and minds of the people!
